Head Start became a part of Barbara's life as her four children attended Head Start. In 2000 she runner up in the National Beating the Odds Award. This is an award offered to parents of Head Start children. Recipients of this award show what he/she has done to overcome obstacles in life. Two of the goals she had achieved included building a home with help from Habitat for Humanity and continuing her college education.
Barb was hired at Head Start in August 2003 and currently is the Administrative Assistant. She has held positions of treasurer of the North Dakota Association for the Education of Young Children and secretary of the North Dakota Head Start Association.
Barb has 4 children: Charles, Chandal, Amanda and Sondra. All of her children are graduates of Head Start.
Hobbies include playing games with her kids, pinochle, creative writing, reading and dancing. |
