Caring Community Award
West River Head Start, a program of HIT Inc., is proud to celebrate a truly amazing accomplishment. In February of 2016, West River Head Start was nominated for, and received, the North Dakota Caring Communities Award (NDCCA) from Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota. The NDCCA is presented yearly to individuals and organizations that are committed to children's safety in North Dakota, and educating the community to prevent child abuse in the state. All West River Head Start staff members are recipients of this award and deserve the credit. Through their relentless commitment to protecting children. West River Head Start employees have made our communities a safer place for our kids to learn, grow, and thrive.

"West River Head Start is committed to giving children and their families the opportunity to grow within their communities by providing quality education and family services."

What does Head Start offer?
Head Start programs support the mental, social, and emotional development of children from ages 3 to 5. In addition to education services, programs provide children and their families with health, nutrition, social, and other services. Head Start services are responsive to each child and family's ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.

Head Start encourages the role of parents as their child's first and most important teachers. Programs build relationships with families that support positive parent-child relationships, family well-being, and connections to peers and community.
