HIT's Rec/Leisure program is designed perfectly for clients who have medical or health issues that prevent them from working or who do not have vocational goals.
These clients are offered a variety of recreational and volunteer activities in our building at 2640 Sunset Drive NW in Mandan and in the communities of Bismarck and Mandan. This program is also the home base for the MOVE (Mobility Opportunities Via Edcuation/Experience), which uses specialized equipment that assists people who use wheelchairs to walk as well as do other physical activities.
This crew in Rec/Leisure volunteers a couple of days each week and loves leisure activities like shopping, going out for coffee, going swimming, enjoying the lights and smells in the sensory room and much more each week.
They end each week with karaoke every Friday, a popular activity that everyone throughout the building looks forward to. And, of course, they are champions at decorating pumpkins for Halloween every year with their pumpkin decorating contest. The pumpkins they decorate are amazing!
Our goal is to make sure each of the clients is participating in fulfilling activities in Bismarck and Mandan as well as completing all of their necessary activities of daily living, including physical therapies and personal care.
