Parent / Child Hours are held monthly: You are always welcome in the classroom! Parent/Child Hours are special activities to enjoy with your child. Parent/Child Hour is held monthly in each classroom. Watch for notes from your child's teaching staff with dates for Parent/Child Hours.
Family Night (Safety) in September: Have you ever thought of all the types of safety that effect your life every day? Topics will range from identity theft to fire safety to stranger danger and many more.
Family Night (Literacy) in January: Head Start believes that a family that reads together succeeds together. Great emphasis is placed on preparing children for reading and ensuring their school readiness. Head Start plays a key role in family literacy by increasing Head Start families' access to materials, activities and services which are essential to family literacy development and assisting parents as adult learners to recognize and address their own literacy skills.
Week of the Young Child in April: Week of the Young Child honors young children, teachers and all those who make a difference in young children's lives. Watch for notes that will be sent home with the Head Start children about special activities planned during Week of the Young Child. NAEYC Week of the Young Child
Kindergarten Kick Off is held in April: This special evening celebrates the Head Start students who will be going to kindergarten in the fall. Children participate in games while parents receive information about the public school system. Supper will be served to Head Start families.
Stepping Up is held in May: This special program celebrates each child and their year at Head Start! Friends and family members are welcome to join us for this event.
Community Fun Day is held in May: Join us for an extra special day of activities as we celebrate our year at Head Start.
