West River Head Start in Mandan is hiring an Education Coordinator!
This person will lead and oversee the classroom teaching staff in implementing the Head Start Performance Standards, Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, and conduct classroom assessments. The Education Coordinator is also our expert in working with children with disabilities so experience in this area is helpful. This person will also be instrumental in hiring and training new education staff.
DETAILS:
10 months, 40 hours/week. Work from early August to mid June.
Pay range is $38,051-49,280/annually
Must have valid driver's license.
Head Start pays over 80% of health insurance premium and 50% of dental and vision insurance premiums.
This person must:
have a baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education; or baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education with experience teaching preschool children
be organized
have strong leadership skills
be knowledgeable in early child development
exhibit flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing environments, and
possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
bilingual in Spanish is a plus

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Responsible for the implementation of the Head Start Performance Standards as stated in the Federal Guidelines for Head Start. The primary purpose is to work closely with education staff, providing constructive feedback and ongoing support to ensure quality educational services are delivered to children and families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Communicates proficiently and models when appropriate with staff in regards to expectations of developmentally appropriate and safety practices and implementation of Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, CLASS, etc.
Sets up regular training, and leads the coordination of training for staff; ensuring ongoing professional development of teaching staff.
Responsible for oversight of children with disabilities or potential disabilities. Works closely with the local Special Ed Unit in Mandan as the WRHS primary contact. Attends IEP meetings along with the student’s lead teacher. Ensures WRHS is following the IEP and offers suggestions and guidance to teaching staff in regards to implementation of modifications or strategies referenced in the IEP.
Oversees the process to ensure developmentally appropriate practices for the preschool children are carried out. Assists in organizing interagency collaborative screening.
Monitors all classroom staff in regards to implementing educational policies including but not limited to: lesson plans, lesson plan binders, documentation and assessment entered on Teaching Strategies online assessment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises education staff at the Mandan center. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of those employees.
