Do you love interacting with children from ages 3 to 5? We have an opportunity that may interest you!

The successful candidate must enjoy working with children and be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment. This individual will be in the classroom as part of the teaching staff.

Part-time opening (28 hours per week). Hours are 8AM-3PM Monday thru Thursday from mid-August to mid-May. May have training occasionally on Friday.
Requires high school diploma or GED and valid driver's license.
If desired, summer hours may be available through HIT, Inc.
Children attend Monday, Tueday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday is staff work days and training time.
Pay is $16.00/hour ($16.55 if you have your CDA)

What is involved in the job:

Assist teaching staff in providing a nurturing, safe, consistent learning environment to enhance the skills of every child. Adhere to the cleaning and sanitizing requirements. Create positive, meaningful interaction with the children and flexibility in daily routines. Main focus of this position is interacting with the students in the classroom and to clean the classroom.

Engage with children during play. Our belief is that children learn more when adults are active members of their play.
Have conversations with children, be at the child’s level by being on the floor or sitting at the table. Be a good role model and build positive relationships with the children.
Help children with daily routine (examples: mealtime, getting dressed to go outside, circle time)
Follow the direction and lead of the teacher and help where needed; be willing to learn new skills and be flexible.
Learn and implement Conscious Discipline. This focuses on a school family that establishes simple, reasonable, and consistent guidelines for children to encourage impulse control and self-regulation.
Demonstrate a positive attitude with parents, community members and other staff by using assertive communication (clear, direct, respectful) when addressing an issue.
Prep before and after meals. Clean classroom at the end of the day.
Collaborate professionally and respectfully with Head Start staff to meet the needs of children and families.

Optional:

May obtain a CDL to drive 20 passenger school bus. Head Start reimburses for permit and driving test upon successful completion.
May obtain Child Development credential (CDA). Head Start covers the cost of the program.
