West River Head Start provides 3- to 5-year-old children an opportunity to develop a passion for learning in a classroom setting. Our program provides a foundation for academic success and school readiness by helping children develop critical thinking and strong social emotional health. Experience something unique and heartwarming when you walk into one of the classrooms. Listen to the buzz of activity: wooden blocks clicking, crisp pages from a favorite book turning excitedly, and the unforgettable sound of children laughing and giggling. These sounds are continually interrupted with the “oohs” and “awes” from inquisitive young ones as they participate in hands-on experiences that stimulate deep and impactful learning. See children working together and communicating to accomplish common goals. See teachers at eye-level with children as they help, encourage, and foster a positive learning environment. West River Head Start provides support and education to parents and caretakers with the two-generation model. The two-generation model supports parents and children at the same time to promote success at home and in the classroom. Parents set goals and receive support as they work towards it. Most importantly, West River Head Start listens to parents’ thoughts and opinions on their children’s education. West River Head Start truly believes that parents are their children’s first and most important teachers and takes parents seriously. Take the opportunity to give your child a Head Start to enable their success and happiness!
